BUYER BEWARE

• Stay away from unlabeled and no grade beef.

• Stay away from a bright red steak; remember marbling is the key to tender and flavorful beef. * See our beef pyramid

SELECT and lower grades of beef will be tough and flavorless especially in comparison to Western Premium Angus Beef.

BEWARE OF THE WHITE TRUCKS!

Stay away from the little white trucks. There are many small meat companies that sell ungraded beef as a CHOICE grade product, which it is not. BEWARE! Beef sold by these white trucks has been pumped with water and other solutions to “enhance” the tenderness and flavor through chemical means.

The term “enhanced” is an industry term that you should stay away from. To develop flavor and tenderness through chemical means is fundamentally wrong! Be aware of what your family consumes.

BEWARE OF PUMPING or ENHANCED BEEF!

The term “pumping” refers to the practice of injecting, through a series of needles, water or other solutions to enhance the flavor and or tenderness in the beef, poultry, pork or seafood. The practice can take an undesirable cut of meat or seafood and make it more tender and add flavor with sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium lactate and sodium chloride. Pumping also adds 10-15% of water weight.

That water weight causes noticeable shrinkage after cooking. Ever wonder why a hamburger patty turns into the size of a silver dollar or why a chicken breast after cooking turns into a chicken nugget? The answer, pumping.

The USDA requires that if there is more than one ingredient in the product, all ingredients must be disclosed on the label. Our beef has one ingredient. The only ingredient in Western Beef & Seafood is BEEF AND SEAFOOD!

Our beef is ONLY high quality beef with no solutions, water or additives. Our Western Premium Angus is aged mid-western, corn fed beef bred and raised in the United State of America. Only 8% of beef is called Western Premium Angus Beef. We invite you to taste the difference!
